Athens: Khalid Usman Qaiser, the Pakistani Ambassador to Greece, in an event held last week in Athens, paid rich tribute to (late) Syed Aijaz Haider Rizvi, known in Greece for his humanitarian and social efforts for Pakistani community selflessly for over four decades.
Speaking at the event, the Pakistani Ambassador praised and reminisced the services of Aijaz Haider and eulogized him as an exemplary Pakistani while also presented a tributary shield to his companions.
“Syed Aijaz Haider is no more with us but the fragrance of his selflessness, patriotism and love for Pakistan will always remain fresh in our memories. His uncountable efforts for the nation and religion can never be forgotten, the void he left can never be filled again.” Mr. Qaiser said.
He also praised how the efforts of Aijaz Haider, helped create interfaith coexistence and sectarian harmony among the Muslims, the foundation of first recognized place of worship, official permission for the mass prayers of Eid, organization of different ethnic and social events and introduction of Pakistani products in Greece.
The event that was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life and they all emphasized on how Aijaz Haider lived his life revolving around the principles and because of that, he was prominent and popular equally among Muslim and non-Muslim communities living in Greece.
Syed Aijaz Haider Rizvi passed away last year in March after a cardiac arrest, it was a big setback for the religious and social organizations. His death was followed by condolences from government officials, diplomatic community and political figures and was termed a major loss for humanity and religion. He was buried in the Wadi-e-Hussain cemetery in Karachi.
