First academic collaboration between Pakistan and Estonian Universities included Erasmus plus International Credit Mobility Funds has been signed and approved by the parties.
This was stated by President of Pakistan Estonia Association (PEA) Dr. Yar Muhammad Mughal. Dr Mughal is also Assistant Professor at University of Tartu, Estonia (Europe).
He said, this will create a bridge between Estonian and Pakistani Universities. According to him, the collaboration was developed between University of Tartu Narva College and National University Science of Technology (NUST), School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME), Islamabad and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Faculty of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (FEECSE).
It is important to mention that the QS World University Rankings ranked the University of Tartu 347th in the world in 2016, and the top-ranked university in the Baltics. The university is also ranked 4th in the Emerging Europe. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed it in the 301–350 range among world universities. It is the only university in the Baltic countries to place among the top 200 universities in Europe. UT belongs to top 1% of world’s most cited universities in 10 research areas.
The Erasmus plus International Credit Mobility Funds were approved for Staff Mobility for Teaching and staff mobility for the action period of two year 2017-2019. The Faculty and Staff can exchange from above mentioned Universities to do collaborative research and teaching.
The Erasmus plus program promotes the international exchange of students and staff between higher education institutions in Erasmus+ Program and Partner Countries.
About role of exchange of scholars and students for enhancement of ties between both sides, the Dr Yar Mohammad insisted as saying, indeed exchange of scholars and students will play an important role. In this way both sides Universities will be in close contact in academia and research exchange. Scholars may exchange the views and get agree to work together. He further described that EU offers a lot of funds for joint collaboration from outside the EU.
