Milan – The Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan commemorated Pakistan Day with a series of events reflecting national pride, unity, and bilateral cooperation. A National Day Reception was held in a hotel in Milan, bringing together prominent dignitaries, diplomats, and members of the Pakistani diaspora. The event also featured an Iftar dinner, symbolizing harmony and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.
Senior Italian officials, business leaders, and Consul Generals from various countries, including Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Japan, Norway, the U.S.A., and Turkey, attended the reception. Ms. Daina Marchi, City Councillor of Milan, participated as the Chief Guest and extended warm greetings from the city administration, reaffirming Milan’s commitment to cultural cooperation with the Consulate. Professor Luca Olivier congratulated Pakistan on 70 years of Italy-Pakistan collaboration in archaeology and conservation, expressing best wishes from the Italian Archaeological Mission in Pakistan.
In her keynote address, Consul General Aqsa Nawaz underscored the significance of Pakistan Day, recalling the historic Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, which paved the way for Pakistan’s independence. She highlighted the growing Pakistan-Italy relations and lauded the contributions of the Pakistani community in Italy.
The celebrations culminated on March 23, 2025, with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Consulate. Prominent Pakistanis and officials gathered to mark the occasion with patriotic fervor. Messages from Pakistan’s leadership were read out, reaffirming the nation’s resolve for progress, peace, and development. The event concluded with a cultural performance by Pakistani children and the ceremonial cutting of the National Day cake, symbolizing unity and national pride.
