Two days after the top court issued a verdict disqualifying Nawaz Sharif, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has said the ‘Sharifs’ will keep on making a comeback despite the ouster.
“Nawaz Sharif is a statesman who embraced all the opposition against himself,” an angry Saad Rafique said. “One Sharif is gone, but the next has arrived; if he is ousted too, we will bring in a third one and then a fourth and so on.”
The PML-N leader said it was not stated in the judgment that the premier had used his position unlawfully or had been corrupt. “The masses, even those not related with PML-N, have reservations on sending an elected PM home.” Controversial decisions always remain controversial, he added.

Criticising the party’s arch-rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, Rafique said “there will be a time Imran Khan will himself be discrediting his demands which resulted in the PM’s ouster.”
The PML-N leader went on to add that those accompanying Imran were all involved in corruption.
Earlier on Sunday, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, chosen to be next Prime Minister by the party’s parliamentary body, said the masses had not accepted the verdict of the top court. Similarly, JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman said “they stood with the country and not personalities,” while supporting Nawaz Sharif.
On Saturday, the PML-N confirmed the former petroleum minister’s name as the interim PM, saying Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will take over the slot after the interim period is complete.
